Fishing on Pine Island Sound, Florida
Easy Rider Fishing Charters - Capt. Dick May

Pine Island's easy, affordable access to Boca Grande Pass and the Gulf of Mexico offers some of the best fishing and boating in the world. Tarpon, snook, redfish, snapper and many other varieties help make this a fisherman's paradise. The sport of tarpon fishing originated in Pine Island Sound. Boca Grande Pass (just 20 minutes across Pine Island Sound from Bokeelia) is considered the "Tarpon Capital of the World."

Flats fishing, or light tackle fishing is one of the most popular types of sport fishing on Pine Island Sound. Flats consist of miles of shallow water that range from a few inches to five feet deep, with a bottom of Turtle Grass and sand. They provide feeding grounds to a large variety of fish, including redfish, sea trout, tarpon, snook, shark, sheepshead and snapper.
